First, the outer edge is not touch sensitive. The keyboard does not appear to have any of the symble or color codes of a PS3 controler, so unless you know the keyboard mapping already for those, you'd probably want to use it in conjunction with either the six-axis or PS3-BD remote. So far, unlike some other reviewers, I have not had a problem with it losing pairing. Doing so won't break it, but you'll be limited by its size and lack of some buttons. This is a great little keyboard for controling a computer used for entertainment purposes in the living room attached to a TV. There is a storage spot for it behind the battery compartment door.I have not tested this, but there is also a switch in the underside to go from PC to PS3, it's under the BT dongle compartment. There are no F keys, so no ALT-F4 to close an app, no F1 to open an app's Help, etc. It does have page up/down and arrow keys. The touchpad does take some getting used to.
But if you zip your finger across, you'll run out of screen before you run out of pad.The media keys should work in the major media players in Windows, I've only tested it with iTunes and Winamp and have no problems. It comes with a "mini" BT dongle to plug into your computer's USB port, but if you have BT already, either built-in or with a different dongle, you don't need to use the included one. If you slide slowly, the cursor will move a little bit, and you'll run out of pad before you run out of screen.
I don't mean size, I mean missing keys. Second, cursor speed is not exactly linear.
Do not even think of using this as a primary keyboard for a computer you'll be doing a lot of actual work on, as it's not designed for that use. According to Logitech, this is not a bug, it's a hardware limitation.
The PS3, of course, has BT built-in. The only issues I have with it are that it's not a full keyboard.
There is also no Home/End keys for quickly going to the beginning or end of a line or list.
I am a big fan of the Dinovo Mini. I rarely if ever lose connection. I got fed up with Cable, so i purchased a dell studio hybrid and hooked it up to my bedroom 37" lcd. (Plus I purchased a Turk HD-TVS -reviewed elsewhere).
Really it works as i hoped. The battery life is great, i go weeks without recharging and use this every night. Granted it isn't as easy as using a standard mouse but it more than get the job done. The only reason its a four and not a 5 to me is price, and that mouse functionality could be improved. It has built in Media Center capability which would work great if the Dell didn't constantly crap out when using MC. It is pricey, but so useful.
It has great trackpad to use as a mouse. Otherwise a great item, highly recommended. That way i could watch on my screen Hulu and bit-torrented video. Anyway even though the Dell has built in Bluetooth i chose to use the USB stick as logitech mentions you may have better connection.
Once it's in the area you want, though, there is no difficulty in making small movements. When I started using the arrow keys, I thought down was broken, but then I realized I was pressing too close to the edge. If the diNovo Mini had been a little cheaper, I would have given it 5 stars. I would assume that is just a problem with mine, but it's not annoying enough to justify a return or make me stop using it. All 3 other directions responded right out to the edge of the disk, but I needed to press closer to the center for down. The keyboard is too small for extended typing, but the fact that it replicates most of the functions of a full-size keyboard makes it great in a pinch. The touchpad is more difficult to use than what one would be used to from a laptop. It takes a few complete swipes to get the cursor across the screen if you have a larger monitor.
For use as a media computer keyboard/mouse combo- the unit is perfect. The device is very well thought out. Battery life is exceptional (and I'm a heavy user).
Logitech diNovo Mini is great for a multimedia pc setup.I setup a viiv type system in the livingroom, Bought the dinovo which stays nicely put on the coffee table surrounded by costers. When I get home from work I turn on the pc, tv and dinovo and enjoy the control and freedom this beautifully designed little gadget gives me.I go online, watch tv, movies or listen to music.I highly recommend it if you have a mutimedia system setup in the livingroom or even the bedroom. The Only Gripe; The software is a pain in the butt to tweek, but logitect is working on improvments to the software.I give the diNovo - 6 flags. The Software - 1 flag.
